Swine Flu

As flu activity is low across the country, the National
Pandemic Flu Service was closed down on 11 February
2010.
If you have flu-like symptoms and are
concerned that you may have swine flu:
Stay at home and check your symptoms at NHS Direct or via 0845
4647, and then contact your local GP for assessmnet.
You should telephone your GP directly
if:
- you have a serious underlying illness
- you are pregnant
- you have a sick child under one year old
- your condition suddenly gets much worse
- your condition is still getting worse after seven days (or five
days for a child)
If your doctor decides that you need antivirals
medicines, you will need to send someone who doesn't have flu
symptoms to collect them for you from a local
collection point. Your flu friend will need to take with them
their own ID, your ID plus the authorisation from your doctor
(which may be a voucher or a prescription).
If you have severe symptoms
which are not like flu you should contact your GP or call NHS
Direct on 0845 4647
Please do not go to A&E unless you are seriously
ill.
